January 20, 1991; Riga, Latvia 0n the night of January 20, 1991, when lots of people of Riga were on the barricades in the centre of the city, guarding the parliament and TV station - the most important islands of independence, proclaimed on May 4, 1990, suddenly the sniper fire started and went on for 30 minutes. In the result many people were injured and 5 killed.
The film returns to the event after 5 years as this incident is still a subject of controversy and under investigation by the Latvian autborities. Why are there no answers about - why the shooting started and who started it ? Who was behind the provocations carriied out then and why so many investigators had to leave the case? It turns out that answers still can't be revealed, but one thing is clear - in these political games, played out according to the same scenario before Riga in Sumgait, Vilnius and later in Georgia, Moldova and now in Checenia, peoples lives don't cost anything.
