The film is a meeting with the chief conductor of Oslo and Pittsburgh symphony orchestras Mariss Jansons at the places where he lives and works: his native Riga, St.Petersburg, Oslo and Pittsburgh.
The film is based on excerpts from Jansons’ concerts and rehearsals, performed together with the National Symphonic Orchestra of the Latvian Republic and soloist Gidon Kremer, St.Petersburg Philharmonic Academic Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and Pittsburgh Symphonic Orchestra, soloist Yo-Yo Ma.
You will have the opportunity to hear interviews with Jansons as well as with Gidon Kremer, Yo-Yo Ma, Mstislav Rostropovich,
orchestra musicians, the Maestro’s mother and daughter.
Our intention was to show Jansons as we become acquainted with him - to show him as an outstanding contemporary conductor and as a warm-hearted and attractive human personality...
You will hear music composed by Dvorak, Wagner, Paganini, Verdi, Stravinsky, Strauss and Barber.
