The documentary „The Birthday" tells four stories about four people who were born on the same day as the Republic of Latvia – November 18, 1918.
The characters of the film Ella Steinate, Ignats Spridzans, Arnolds Dzirne and Jelena Vucane-Bicane were born on the same day as the Latvia state was proclaimed, so they celebrate the birthday of the state as their own.
The coincidence of the day long gone might seem unimportant but it is amazing how very „Latvian" are their destinies. They reflect the whole spectrum of the history of Latvia.
They are like four drops of dew, which reflect the whole world.
And the world they create.
