The script by Lija Bridaka based on a famous novel "The Early Rust" by the Latvian writer Elina Zalite. The film, set in a Latvia of the 30ies, tells a tragic story of a young woman. Elsa has come from a country-side to the city expecting to find some work there. It is not easy. At last she finds a job in a fashion house as a model. An old factory owner sets an eye on her, and she agrees to marry him, hoping that she will finally be able to love him. Then she meets a young and handsome Italo and falls desperately in love with him, unaware that he is the son of her husband. When the old man finds it out, she kills him and is sentenced.
