Based on the novel by the famous Norvegian writer Knut Hamsun. Since his early childhood Junannes, a miller's son, loves the rich castle owner's daughter Victoria. They grew up together and did not feel the differences between their social positions. When the time comes for Victoria to get married, her father wants her to marry a rich man. Overwhelmed with grief Juhannes starts writing poetry and leaves . After some time he returns as a famous poet. And now not only social position lies between them, but also their pride. Only after Victoria's death, he learn from her letter, that she has loved him all her life.
