THE CAGE/ MY CAGE
|
|
The story of a man, who spends 40 days in a cage in a forest. Architect Edmunds Berzs (Ivars Kants), although his father was exiled to Siberia, has managed to comply with the existing social system and enjoys a comfortable life. From time to time something stirs inside him, urging him to escape from the "cage", where he has lived his life. One day Berzs seeks solace in the country home. There he admires the forester's daughter Mare, who lives in the neighbourhood. His brother also loves Mare, and in a jealous rage he imprisons Edmunds in a cage deep in the forest. There in solitude he contemplates eternity, feeling free from any trivial concerns as well as sins of the past.
